Cates Controls Systems is seeking an Industrial Automation Controls Engineer to join their innovative and family-friendly team in Wylie, TX.   • Develop and manage project deliverables to a schedule, independently or within a team.
  • Design, program, document, test, and validate control systems.
  • Perform on-site startup, commissioning, validation, support, and training.
  • Demonstrate strong verbal and written communications with colleagues, management, and customers.
  • Adapt to changing requirements, think strategically, solve problems, and develop confidence with the team and customers.
  • Understand customers' goals and work in partnership with all stakeholders to design solutions.
  • Work and succeed in a fast-paced environment with frequent changes on multiple projects.
  • Identify changes in scope and notify the project team accordingly.
  • Provide input and resolve issues during the sales cycle, estimating, and fabrication processes.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent Automation experience
  • 3+ years of experience with Industrial Automation
  • Heavy motion controls and Servo Controls experience
  • PLC programming experience, including creating from scratch, preferably with Rockwell Logix family
  • Experience with other brands (Siemens, Omron, GE, Modicon, etc.) is helpful
  • Safety programming in the PLC is a plus
  • HMI/OIT programming experience in Wonderware ArchestrA/System Platform/InTouch, Inductive Automation's Ignition, or Rockwell FactoryTalk View ME or SE
  • On-site IO and panel testing, set-up, troubleshooting, and drawings experience
  • Ability to read and mark-up electrical panel and network drawings
  • Panel and wiring troubleshooting skills are a plus
  • Expert knowledge of MS Office tools (PowerPoint, Excel, Project, Word) for documentation purposes
  • Experience with VFD Setup and communications (Rockwell, Yaskawa, ABB, Mitsubishi, etc.)
  • Knowledge of standards and regulations such as NEC, UL508A, and OSHA
