About the position

The position involves the installation, modification, and repair of automated industrial control equipment, requiring a strong understanding of software used in programmable logic control (PLC) systems. The role includes designing, planning, and maintaining various industrial control equipment and instrumentation, while also collaborating closely with the maintenance team to ensure the efficient operation of plant equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Installation, modification, and repair of automated industrial control equipment.
  • Design, plan, install, and maintain industrial control equipment and instrumentation such as loop controls, variable frequency drives, control panels, and load balancing.
  • Assist in routine planned maintenance and emergency repairs of plant equipment including conveyors, bucket elevators, and washing/drying equipment.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical equipment, PLCs, ladder diagrams, AC and DC circuits, electrical sensors and switches, motor controls, and servo controllers.
  • Install, troubleshoot, and repair electric motors and equipment (120, 240, and 480V).
  • Complete preventive maintenance tasks as scheduled and document finished work.
  • Contact vendors for replacement parts as needed.
  • Drive a pick-up truck or maintenance vehicle in the plant and/or to pick up parts from local vendors.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associates degree preferred.
  • Four years combined schooling and industrial experience required.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Strong machine electrical background with knowledge of hardwired controls, digital and analog I/O, and the ability to read electrical schematics and P&IDs.
  • Proven PLC Programming experience with Allen Bradley RSLogix and Studio 5000, including networking experience (Ethernet, ControlNet, DeviceNet, etc.).
  • Proven HMI Programming experience with Wonderware InTouch and Historian, with System Platform experience desired.
  • Computer skills in Windows and server environments, including loading and configuring various software on servers and PCs.
  • Ability to work in adverse working conditions such as heat, wet, cold, noise, etc.
  • Ability to troubleshoot electrical and mechanical problems.
  • Ability to read prints including mechanical and electrical schematics.
  • Possess excellent analytical skills and data interpretation.
  • Knowledge of safety practices such as lockout/tagout, MSHA, NFPA 70E, and proper use of PPE.
  • Strong communication skills.
