About the position

The Senior Controls/Algorithm Engineer will design and develop software for distributed control system applications, collaborating closely with software architects and control system engineers. This role involves leading small to medium-sized projects, analyzing complex issues, and contributing to all aspects of system development and deployment in a fast-paced, technical environment.

Responsibilities

• Understand the software response to system and controls requirements and develop software based on these requirements.
• Create Test Specification Documents and deliver high-quality solutions.
• Articulate design decisions and implementations to teammates both verbally and in writing.
• Understand principles of systems engineering including requirements, flowdown, and validation.
• Assist in the development of design documentation for prototypes and production products.

Requirements

• BS in Electrical, Mechanical, or Aerospace Engineering or related field with 5+ years of relevant experience.
• MS in the same disciplines is a significant plus.
• Proficiency in development, analysis, and implementation of control systems or other complex robotic/autonomous systems.
• Experience in Matlab/Simulink.
• Strong data analytics ability.
• Experience with the engineering workflow including requirements capture, analysis, flowdown, development, manufacturing, and testing/verification.
• Ability to handle aggressive deadlines with agility and a results-driven approach.
• Ability to translate, statistically analyze data, and effectively report problems through written and/or graphical formats.
• Ability to determine technical solutions including test documentation.
• Ability to interact effectively with team members and individuals in other disciplines and organizations.
• Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
• Effective communication on various technical levels, both verbal and written.
• Proficiency in working both autonomously and within a team environment.
• Experience with Agile Development is a plus.
• Systems engineering experience and mindset is a strong plus.
