About the position

The Electrical Controls Engineer will support a manufacturing client in Oklahoma City by programming, troubleshooting, and maintaining electrical control systems for industrial equipment. The role requires expertise in various automation equipment and compliance with relevant codes and standards, ensuring efficient operation of production machinery.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, repair, and maintain electrical control systems for production machinery.
  • Collaborate with Supervisors and Manufacturing Applications Engineers to discuss machine and equipment functions.
  • Work with electrical systems ranging from 0-600 VAC and 0-1000 VDC, including single-phase and three-phase.
  • Construct and wire control panels and manage all aspects of machinery electrical control systems.
  • Program PLCs with a strong grasp of ladder logic, including brands like Allen Bradley, Mitsubishi, Omron, and Siemens.
  • Configure automation equipment such as PLCs, VFDs, HMIs, and Servos.
  • Research and specify components for electrical equipment and systems as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university; or one to two years of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proficiency in Windows software, Microsoft Office products, drafting software (AutoCAD), SCADA software, and relevant electrical component programming software packages.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret a wide variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge in the design and troubleshooting of hydraulic and pneumatic systems for machines and equipment.
  • Knowledge of Electrical distribution systems for voltage below 600V.
  • Preferred familiarity with serial communications, particularly RS232 and RS485, due to legacy equipment.
  • Experience with Inductive Automation Ignition SCADA.
