About the position

The Controls Engineer will be responsible for developing and implementing control systems for new products, primarily involving Servo motors and safety sensors. This role includes PLC programming, troubleshooting, and electrical design work, with a focus on Allen-Bradley and Siemens systems. The engineer will also assist in optimizing production processes and ensuring project completion within budget and timelines.

Responsibilities

  • Perform hands-on troubleshooting of PLCs and equipment in the shop, addressing electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic issues.
  • Collaborate with engineering, sales, and procurement departments to ensure controls projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Assist in building complex automated systems for customers.
  • Monitor system effectiveness and provide troubleshooting support for new machine builds.
  • Repair machinery on site as needed.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in Allen-Bradley and Siemens PLC programming.
  • Strong experience in controls engineering and electrical design.
  • Experience in automation, troubleshooting, and control systems.
  • 8-10+ years of hands-on electrical and mechanical troubleshooting.
  • 8-10+ years of experience wiring PLCs from scratch, particularly with Allen-Bradley (required) and Siemens (preferred).
  • Bachelor's or Associate's degree in an engineering-related discipline.
