About the position

Lincoln Electric is seeking an experienced Controls Engineer to lead the design of electrical and pneumatic control systems for industrial automation equipment. This role is critical in ensuring the quality, suitability, and functionality of system designs that meet industry standards. The successful candidate will work closely with cross-functional teams to maintain project timelines and ensure that hardware designs are completed within budget. The position requires a strong background in electrical engineering, with a focus on controls engineering, and the ability to interpret customer specifications and scope of work documents effectively. In this role, the Controls Engineering Hardware Lead will be responsible for designing electrical control systems based on a defined scope of work, reviewing and interpreting quotes, and collaborating with various teams to track project milestones. The candidate will also maintain task lists and reports of open items, ensuring that project design documentation is up to date and customer deliverables are prepared accurately. A key aspect of this position is to ensure that the controls engineering process is tracked and followed throughout the project lifecycle, delegating design work to hardware designers and reviewing their outputs to ensure quality and compliance with standards. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering and a minimum of 10 years of experience in controls engineering, with a proven track record of leadership in a team environment. Familiarity with industry standards such as NEC/NFPA, OSHA, and ANSI is essential, along with experience in electrical CAD systems and system design for various processors. Responsibilities

  • Design electrical control systems based on a scope of work using industry standards and principles.
  • Review and interpret quotes, customer specifications, and scope of work documents.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to maintain project timelines and critical path milestones.
  • Work with the engineering team to ensure hardware designs are completed within budget.
  • Maintain task lists and reports of open items.
  • Maintain project design documentation and prepare customer deliverables.
  • Ensure the controls engineering process is tracked and followed throughout the project.
  • Delegate design work to hardware designers.
  • Track, check, and review work done by hardware designers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience as a Controls Engineer.
  • Experience working as a team leader.
  • Working knowledge of industry standards, including NEC/NFPA, OSHA, and ANSI.
  • Knowledge or education in electrical circuits, schematic reading, design, and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with electrical CAD systems, such as AutoCAD Electrical and/or ePLAN.
  • Experience with electrical and pneumatic circuit design.
  • Experience in system design with Rockwell Logix 5000 family processors.
  • Experience in system design with Siemens S7-1500 family processors.
  • Experience with servo motor systems.
  • Experience with hardwired and distributed safety systems.
  • Experience in the automotive manufacturing industry.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with AGV or AMRs or battery powered mobile systems would be an advantage.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft applications, such as Word and Excel.
