About the position

The Controls Engineering Project Lead at Eclipse Automation is responsible for leading and coordinating Controls Engineering functions and project costing. This role involves developing and implementing engineering policies, ensuring project goals are met within budget, and maintaining high standards of quality, reliability, and safety in project designs. The position requires collaboration with various departments and oversight of project deliverables, while fostering an entrepreneurial culture within the team.

Responsibilities

  • Recognize problems, initiate action, assist in problem solving, and evaluate results on major issues prior to releasing drawings to manufacturing.
  • Review and approve all project designs to ensure they meet Eclipse's high standards of quality, reliability, and safety.
  • Develop and coordinate project designs within the Controls Engineering team.
  • Guide, direct, teach, assist, and advise department staff on practical design practices and standards.
  • Lead the Controls Engineering department project to ensure project contract deliverables are met.
  • Work to specific project budgets and timelines provided by project management.
  • Act as the Point-Of-Contact for the PM department for all assigned projects.
  • Update project completion with respect to weekly confirmation of critical milestones, labor hours, and percent complete on project.
  • Update Open Issues List as required.
  • Delegate duties of the project to team members.
  • Ensure that Company ISO Standards are followed.
  • Enter and/or update department employee time reports and job task allocations.
  • Ensure project tasks are entered correctly and promptly for accurate man hour records for Project Management department.
  • Respond to CARs issued to the department.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or College Diploma in Electrical, Systems, Mechatronics, or Robotics Automation Technology.
  • 5 - 10 years of experience in electrical engineering, preferably in the custom automation industry.
  • Experience with hydraulics, pneumatics, and electrical controls and integration of equipment is an asset.
  • Professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to motivate teams to produce quality materials within tight timeframes and manage several projects simultaneously.
  • Mechanical aptitude is an asset.
