About the position

The Field Controls Engineer position at Cross Company Process Solutions Group is a vital role that encompasses a variety of tasks related to the configuration, commissioning, and startup of control systems for industrial applications. This position is essential for ensuring that control system retrofitting, system migrations, and upgrades are executed efficiently and effectively. Field Controls Service Engineers are expected to work with a diverse range of PLCs, HMIs, and manufacturing control systems, including but not limited to ABB, Allen-Bradley, Siemens, and DeltaV. The role requires close collaboration with industrial and manufacturing customers, often acting as an extension of their local engineering teams. This may involve travel to customer sites during regular business hours, with minimal overnight stays required. In this position, Field Controls Service Engineers are responsible for implementing industrial facility process automation using Cross Company’s in-house integration methods alongside vendor-supplied hardware and software. They work closely with customers, plant managers, and engineering teams to ensure that project needs are met and that the requirements for each project are thoroughly understood and implemented. After project completion, these engineers provide ongoing support to address any post-project issues that may arise, ensuring customer satisfaction and project success. Additionally, the role includes sales responsibilities, where Control Systems Service Engineers may support the sales team by reviewing proposals and acting as technical consultants for potential industrial projects. They also engage in engineering tasks, collaborating with larger engineering groups for significant projects or managing smaller projects independently. Administrative duties include completing ISO paperwork for service projects and entering time into the engineering database weekly. This multifaceted role requires a blend of technical expertise, customer interaction, and project management skills, making it a critical position within the organization.
