About the position

The Controls Hardware Engineer will provide essential engineering support to the project team responsible for delivering custom automation equipment. This role involves defining system architecture and designing electronic control systems, which includes generating AutoCAD schematics and panel layouts, preparing bills of materials (BOMs), and releasing hardware designs to the shop for equipment build support. The engineer will be responsible for the electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic hardware design of custom automation equipment, ensuring that all designs meet customer specifications and project requirements. In this position, the engineer will meet with customers and project managers to understand their needs and develop comprehensive electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic controls designs using AutoCAD Electrical. They will also be tasked with creating a bill of controls materials and collaborating with the purchasing department to obtain cost estimates and ensure timely ordering of parts. The role requires designing interconnections for various peripheral hardware, including servo motors, vision systems, robots, leak test systems, and data collection systems, which may involve knowledge of network communications. Collaboration with the controls build department is crucial, as the engineer will assist in the wiring and plumbing of equipment and may need to debug system hardware as required. Adherence to established controls standards and safety procedures is mandatory, and the engineer may be assigned additional tasks by management as needed.
