About the position

The Controls Systems Analyst at H & H Consulting is responsible for overseeing the repair, maintenance, and installation of electrical, instrumentation, and control systems within a plant environment. This role involves ensuring the operational viability of the plant by evaluating and maintaining the proper functioning of all related systems, providing technical assistance, and promoting safety awareness. The analyst will also participate in the design and commissioning of plant upgrades, support management in performance improvements, and troubleshoot system issues as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Provide guidance and supervision to electricians in the repair, maintenance, and installation of electrical, instrumentation, and control systems.
  • Evaluate and maintain the proper functioning of all electrical, instrumentation, and control systems to ensure operational viability.
  • Specify and select control equipment to maximize automation efforts in process instrumentation and automation equipment.
  • Participate in the design, installation, and commissioning of plant upgrades.
  • Maintain proper documentation of electrical, instrumentation, and automation systems.
  • Ensure optimum operation and reliability for electrical power systems and process control systems.
  • Support and consult plant management on upgrades to improve plant performance.
  • Assist in the coordination and implementation of process control system modifications to maximize plant efficiency.
  • Promote a high level of safety awareness and ensure a safe work environment.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose plant system problems and provide technical assistance for troubleshooting the plant's electrical system.
  • Participate in the plant's on-call program to provide electrical support for all shifts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology.
  • Experience in programming, instrumentation, power systems, and troubleshooting controls.
  • Demonstrated experience with Gas Analyzers, Transmitters, Control Loops, Temperature/Pressure/Vibration/Level/Weighing scales and instruments, Variable Frequency Drives, and Dosing Systems.
  • Familiarity with PLC/DCS and HMI architecture; knowledge of Siemens, Multilin, Allen Bradley, and ABB PLCs software and hardware is a plus.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Strong understanding of CAD software for system installation design.
  • Good knowledge of database management for large control systems, communication networking systems, control software programming, alarm system management, and graphics development.

Nice-to-haves

  • 4 years of experience with PLC/DCS and HMI architecture (Preferred).
  • 4 years of experience with CAD software for system installations (Preferred).
  • 2 years of experience with Gas Analyzers, Transmitters, Control Loops (Preferred).
  • 2 years of experience with Temperature/Pressure/Vibration/Level/Weighing scales (Preferred).
  • 2 years of experience with Variable Frequency Drives and Dosing Systems (Preferred).
