About The Position

The Controls Tech position is responsible for ensuring the efficient operation of electrical and control systems within a production environment. This role supports daily operations through troubleshooting, continuous improvement of operational software, and collaboration with maintenance and engineering teams to implement improvement projects.

Requirements

  • GED or high school diploma and one to two years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • College coursework in electronics or controls preferred.
  • Hands-on experience with PLC controls and logic circuits required.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Windows programs such as Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Experience with PLC and HMI controls required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Previous experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of safety and health regulations in a production setting.

Responsibilities

  • Promote efficient operation of existing electrical and control systems.
  • Support daily production operations through troubleshooting and continuous improvement of operational software and control systems.
  • Partner with Quality Assurance to execute and support all Quality programs ensuring the production of safe, quality foods.
  • Analyze and resolve electrical problems, troubleshoot and improve analog/digital electronic control systems, PLC programming, HMI systems, and computer network communications.
  • Assist in directing plant mechanics to complete repairs as needed.
  • Document and implement work order procedures for new equipment/technology and maintain documentation of all system modifications.
  • Install and maintain Process Control Instruments, both pneumatic and electronic.
  • Repair, calibrate, and clean all instruments, pressure switches, flow tubes, and gauges to ensure minimal downtime and efficient utilization of equipment.
  • Use and wear safety and protective equipment as required.
  • Attend training to develop and improve knowledge and skills.
  • Adhere to proper cleaning methods, storage, and care of equipment and supplies.
  • Take necessary precautions to protect employees, equipment, materials, and facilities.
  • Track software versions for maintaining licenses, specifying contracts, ordering new equipment, and obtaining service contracts.
  • Verify new components and software meet current standards and are compatible with existing architecture.
