About the position

The Convenience Store Clerk is responsible for providing efficient and courteous service to customers while assisting in food service production and maintaining store cleanliness. This role involves handling transactions, following food safety protocols, and ensuring compliance with state and federal laws regarding sales. The clerk will also assist with stocking and ordering products, maintaining a clean work environment, and performing various duties as assigned by the store manager.

Responsibilities

• Provide efficient and courteous service to customers.
• Assist in food service production, including preparing sandwiches and other food items.
• Follow company food safety program.
• Scan and ring customer orders according to company policy.
• Receive and be accountable for all funds taken for each transaction.
• Maintain cleanliness of workstation and store areas.
• Comply with state and local laws regarding cigarette, tobacco, and alcohol sales.
• Follow federal laws regarding food stamps and coupon handling procedures.
• Adhere to company policies regarding check cashing, lottery sales, and money orders.
• Assist with stocking and ordering store products.
• Perform cleaning duties, including sweeping and mopping work areas.
• Maintain cleanliness of public restroom and fuel pumps.
• Brew coffee and clean food service equipment as needed.
• Accountable for security of safe combinations and keys.
• Perform computer room duties, including app reporting and balancing register tills.

Requirements

• Retail experience in a similar position or proficiency in a similar task.
• Exceptional customer service skills.
• Ability to use a cash register (POS system), computer, and other equipment as needed.
• Willingness to learn all areas of the store and help train others.
• Ability to work as part of a team and interact with diverse customers and vendors.
• Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
