The clerk is responsible for monitoring gas levels and deliveries, ensuring that products are displayed according to company standards, and adhering to all regulatory food safety practices. The role also includes performing various customer service duties and promoting sales-building practices to enhance the store's performance. In this position, the clerk will maintain full stock conditions on display racks and shelves, ensuring that dated products are properly stocked, rotated, or discarded if unsold. The clerk is tasked with ensuring accurate checkout totals for customers by properly scanning and keying items, while also maintaining an accurate money count in the register at all times. Safety is a priority, and the clerk must monitor customer and fuel pump safety by reporting and taking action regarding suspicious activities, emergencies, and fuel spills. Additionally, the clerk will check inventory on trucks, unload products, and ensure the accuracy of inventory and associated paperwork. Customer service is paramount, and the clerk is expected to greet customers, answer questions, and assist them with fuel pumps and product locations. Maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary working environment is essential, and adherence to company safety procedures is required. The clerk must also comply with all local, state, and federal laws regarding the sale of restricted items such as tobacco and alcohol. The role requires staying current on tender policies and procedures related to various payment methods, and the clerk will operate a pallet jack to unload products from warehouse trucks and reload trucks with return items. Promoting product sales through suggestive selling initiatives is also a key responsibility of this position.

Responsibilities

  • Inspects fuel pumps and ensures proper seals are in place.
  • Checks inventory on trucks, unloads products, and ensures accuracy of inventory and associated paperwork.
  • Provides friendly and customer service-oriented attitude by greeting customers and assisting them with fuel pumps and product location.
  • Maintains clean, safe, and sanitary working environment by adhering to Company safety procedures.
  • Accountable for adhering to all local, state, and federal laws regarding sales of restricted items.
  • Remains current on tender policies and procedures related to various payment methods.
  • Operates pallet jack to unload product from warehouse trucks and reloads trucks with return items.
  • Promotes product sales through use of suggestive selling initiatives.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 18 years of age required in TX, AR, OK; minimum of 21 years of age required in LA.
  • High school Diploma or GED required.
  • TABC/LACT/AATC certification required where applicable.
  • Fuel Operator C training required.
  • Basic knowledge and compliance of state laws regarding the sale of alcohol, tobacco, and lottery.
  • Ability to count and calculate for cash handling and sales transactions.
  • Ability to memorize and maintain understanding of various payment methods.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with customers and partners.
  • Ability to work well with fellow partners and promote a team atmosphere.
  • Ability to learn new technology systems, methods, and processes.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules including nights, weekends, and holidays.
