About the position

The Conventional Machinist at Crane Aerospace & Electronics is responsible for setting up and operating manual lathes to produce precision parts and instruments. This role involves fabricating, modifying, or repairing mechanical instruments and maintaining industrial machines, utilizing knowledge of mechanics, shop mathematics, and machining procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate a variety of manual lathes to produce precision parts.
  • Fabricate and modify parts to repair machine tools or maintain industrial machines.
  • Adhere to safety procedures and regulations to maintain safe operations.
  • Observe drilling, grooving, and cutting operations; take measurements and troubleshoot processes.
  • Document actions by completing production and quality logs.
  • Maintain continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions and irregularities.

Requirements

  • 5+ years' experience in general machining.
  • 3+ years' experience operating manual lathes.
  • Experience using measuring devices such as micrometers, calipers, plug gauges, and/or air gauges.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Nice-to-haves

  • CNC lathe machining experience.
