About the position

The Chief Operating Officer (COO) will play a pivotal role in leading operational excellence for a growing building supply company with over $50 million in North American revenue. This position requires an entrepreneurial leader who can foster a value-centered culture while driving growth through effective sales, marketing, and manufacturing processes. Reporting directly to the CEO, the COO will be responsible for strategic planning, process optimization, and financial management to ensure the company's continued success and market competitiveness.

Responsibilities

  • Foster a collaborative and motivated team building environment.
  • Recruit, train, and lead high-performance sales and manufacturing teams.
  • Set clear performance expectations and provide ongoing coaching and feedback.
  • Inspire commitment through delegation, encouragement, compromise, and mentoring.
  • Demonstrate a preoccupation with others' needs, motivations, and agendas.
  • Design and assure execution of an insightful and aggressive share growth strategy.
  • Relentlessly measure results and use metrics to justify investment and adjustments.
  • Make well-informed and timely decisions that align with CEO, CFO, and CSCO expectations.
  • Drive the company toward investments in market indicated competitive advantages.
  • Study and implement best practices to assure efficient and reliable workflows.
  • Evaluate and implement technology that enhances operational efficiency.
  • Develop budgets and key performance indicators (KPIs) and report results to leadership.
  • Anticipate potential risks and implement strategies that mitigate them.

Requirements

  • Experience as a senior leader, preferably as a COO or similar.
  • Excellent strategic thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal abilities.
  • Experience with share gain strategy, process optimization, and change management.
  • Financial acumen and budget management skills.
  • Engaging communication and negotiation skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, engineering, or a related field; MBA preferred.
