About the position

The Vermont Psychiatric Care Hospital (VPCH) is seeking a Temporary Cook C to prepare and cook meals for patients in a 25-bed hospital setting. This role involves participating in menu review, food production, and maintaining high standards of food quality, safety, and sanitation. The position requires comfort with operating kitchen equipment and performing cleaning duties, including dishwashing and maintaining organization in storage areas.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook meals for patients in a hospital setting.
• Participate in menu review and food production.
• Maintain high standards of food quality, safety, and sanitation.
• Operate kitchen equipment such as slicers and knives.
• Assist with cleaning duties, including dishwashing.
• Maintain organization in walk-in and dry storage.

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent AND one year or more of experience in volume cooking.
• OR completion of a high school level culinary arts career preparation program.
• OR completion of a formal course in commercial food preparation.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in an institutional kitchen setting.
• Knowledge of Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) standards.
