The position requires adherence to health and safety standards, including the proper use of food service equipment and compliance with HACCP guidelines. The Cook will also be expected to maintain a perfect attendance record, adhere to grooming standards, and proactively seek additional responsibilities to contribute to the department's success. This role is integral to the dining experience at UNT, which is recognized for its innovative and award-winning culinary offerings.

Responsibilities

  • Provide excellent customer service to all guests in the dining area.
  • Accurately handle cash transactions and student ID swipes to minimize wait times.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in the dining room, ensuring all items are fully stocked.
  • Follow all Dining Services and University policies related to cash handling and food safety.
  • Monitor dish machines to ensure compliance with HACCP guidelines.
  • Contribute positively to the team environment and proactively seek additional responsibilities.
  • Maintain a clean and neat uniform, including a name tag and skid-resistant shoes.
  • Communicate effectively and positively with team members and customers.

Requirements

  • Six months of general work experience.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions accurately.
  • Ability to maintain records and complete forms accurately.
  • Knowledge of food service equipment and kitchen utensils.
  • Understanding of health hazards in food preparation and necessary precautions.
