About the position

Westminster Village is seeking talented cooks to join our kitchen brigade and help craft unforgettable dining experiences. This full-time position is ideal for individuals who thrive in a fast-paced environment and have a passion for quality ingredients, aiming to delight residents with exceptional meals. The Cook will play a crucial role in preparing high-quality meals that contribute to the overall well-being of residents.

Responsibilities

• Prepares and serves hot food, cold food, food supplements, and garnishes according to standardized recipes and safe food handling practices.
• Produces and portions the menu as directed or indicated on the menu spreadsheet or production worksheet.
• Maintains and records proper serving temperatures and refrigerated storage temperatures, ensuring food safety compliance.
• Cleans and maintains all storage and preparation areas in a sanitary manner.
• Verifies product needs for the planned menu one day in advance and communicates with the Executive Chef or Food Service Director.
• Utilizes, organizes, and properly rotates food items in storage.
• Collaborates with other personnel in dietary and other departments to provide superior resident service.
• Familiarizes oneself with firefighting equipment, alarms, and disaster procedures.
• Assists in completing food production worksheets and attends educational meetings.
• May perform duties of a Dietary Aide or Dishwasher as needed.
• Cleans coolers and carts and follows cleaning schedule instructions.

Requirements

• High School Diploma, GED or equivalent.
• Previous food service and cook experience preferred.
• Some knowledge of special diets and tray line assembly is desired.
• Certified in Food Service Sanitation by the Illinois Department of Public Health.
