About the position

The position involves preparing quality foods for patients and employees while adhering to food regulations. The role requires effective communication with kitchen staff to ensure timely delivery of meals and regular inventory management. Responsibilities

• Prepare menu items according to forecasted quantities and diet types, following established recipes.
• Provide leadership in the kitchen and train food service workers as needed.
• Communicate with kitchen supervisors regarding work rule violations and food safety issues.
• Make recommendations for improvements to enhance workflow and food quality.
• Check inventory proactively and communicate needs to the inventory technician.
• Manage time effectively to ensure timely cooking and delivery of meals.
• Maintain sanitation and infection control according to established procedures.
• Direct the proper storage and labeling of leftovers to prevent contamination.
• Clean food preparation areas and equipment, including crockery and cutlery.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or Equivalent
• 1 year of experience working in a professional kitchen
• Alaska Food Workers Card within 90 days
• Knowledge of institutional food preparation standards and practices
• Knowledge of menu planning, recipe usage, and quantities
• Ability to work with food preparation equipment and tools safely
• Strong patient/customer service skills
• Good interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to manage time and organize work efficiently
• Ability to follow policies and procedures and communicate effectively with supervisors
• Ability to maintain patient/customer confidentiality.
