About the position

The Cook I position is responsible for preparing ingredients and cooking food according to established recipes and quality standards. This role involves various tasks such as washing and peeling fruits and vegetables, operating kitchen equipment, and ensuring food safety and cleanliness in the kitchen environment. The Cook I will work collaboratively with the culinary team to maintain high standards of food quality and presentation while adhering to safety and security policies.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare ingredients for cooking, including portioning, chopping, and storing food.
  • Wash and peel fresh fruits and vegetables.
  • Weigh, measure, and mix ingredients according to recipes.
  • Prepare and cook food according to recipes, quality standards, and presentation standards.
  • Prepare cold foods and operate kitchen equipment such as ovens, stoves, grills, microwaves, and fryers.
  • Test foods to determine if they have been cooked sufficiently and monitor food quality during preparation.
  • Set up and break down work station and serve food in proper portions.
  • Wash and disinfect kitchen area, tables, tools, knives, and equipment.
  • Check and ensure the correctness of the temperature of appliances and food.
  • Follow all company and safety policies and procedures, reporting maintenance needs and unsafe conditions to management.
  • Maintain a clean and professional appearance and protect company assets.
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with team members.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
  • At least 1 year of related work experience.
  • No supervisory experience required.
  • No specific license or certification required.
