About the position

Cook II is responsible for supporting the management in the production of raw and cooked food products for culinary operations at Horseshoe Indianapolis. This role involves the safe and efficient preparation of food using various cooking techniques and equipment, as well as engaging with guests in a restaurant environment.

Responsibilities

  • Support the management in food production for culinary operations.
  • Prepare food using various cooking techniques such as frying, sautéing, and grilling.
  • Assist with the setup and operation of multiple kitchen stations.
  • Coach Cook Level I for cross-utilization of labor and upward mobility opportunities.
  • Produce stocks, soups, and sauces as part of daily food service preparation.
  • Follow Standard Operational Procedures (SOPs) to meet required par levels and specifications.
  • Maintain standards of sanitation, kitchen hygiene, and food safety.
  • Communicate consistently with supervising Chef regarding department activities.
  • Ensure kitchen and equipment are in good working order and notify Chef of any issues.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required; Culinary Arts Degree is helpful.
  • 2 years of experience in the Food Service Industry as a Cook I or similar position.
  • Ability to set up and work multiple stations within the kitchen.
  • Moderate food knowledge including sauce, soup, and stock production.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
  • Math skills for measuring and estimating ingredients.
  • Proper knife skills and basic food knowledge.
  • Trained use of kitchen equipment such as knives, stoves, and ovens.
  • Compliance with HACCP guidelines and safety regulations.
