The Cook position at Kintock Bridgeton is responsible for preparing and serving nutritious meals to patients in a safe and healthful manner. This role requires adherence to strict guidelines for portioning, plate presentation, and quality, ensuring that meals are not only nutritious but also visually appealing. The cook will service the daily hot lunch line, determining the time and sequence of cooking operations to meet meal serving deadlines, which include breakfast, lunch, and satellite services. Batch cooking is essential, as the cook should not prepare food for the entire day at once, but rather in manageable portions to maintain freshness and quality. In addition to cooking, the cook will be responsible for preparing and submitting food and paper orders according to the menu and production logs. During meal periods, the cook must perform temperature checks to ensure that food is served hot, logging results in the temperature log. Compliance with sanitation requirements as prescribed by state, federal, or local food handling regulations is critical, and the cook will assist in implementing and following up on sanitation cleaning schedules for all kitchen areas and equipment. The cook will also be expected to maintain a sanitary and attractive work area, ensuring that supplies are stocked adequately for the entire day. Menu signage must be neat, clean, colorful, and complete, and the cook will set up attractive display plates for each menu daily. Attendance at weekly kitchen meetings held by the head chef or manager is required, and adherence to all Whitsons policies and procedures is mandatory. Additional duties may be assigned as needed, and the cook must always present a positive and professional image.
