About the position

The Cook position at Kintock Philadelphia is responsible for preparing and serving nutritious meals for patients in a safe and healthful manner. This role requires adherence to strict food safety and sanitation guidelines, ensuring that meals are not only delicious but also compliant with health regulations. The cook will be involved in various aspects of meal preparation, including managing the daily hot lunch line, ensuring proper portioning, plate presentation, and quality of the food served. The position demands a keen understanding of cooking operations, including the timing and sequence necessary to meet meal serving deadlines for breakfast, lunch, and satellite services. Batch cooking is a critical component of this role, as the cook must avoid preparing food for the entire day at once, instead focusing on timely and efficient meal service. In addition to cooking, the cook will be responsible for maintaining accurate food and paper orders according to the menu and production logs. Regular temperature checks during meal periods are essential to ensure that food is served hot, with results logged appropriately. The cook must follow assigned break schedules and adhere to sanitation requirements as prescribed by state, federal, or local food handling regulations. This includes assisting in the implementation and follow-up of sanitation cleaning schedules for all kitchen areas and equipment. The cook will also prepare and update production records and temperature logs, ensuring compliance with mandated food handling certification requirements. Weekly kitchen meetings led by the head chef or manager are a part of the role, where the cook will be expected to participate actively. Maintaining a sanitary and attractive work area is crucial, and the cook must stock enough supplies at their station to last the entire day. Menu signage must be neat, clean, colorful, and complete, and the cook is responsible for setting up attractive display plates for each menu daily.
