About the position

As a Cook at KinderCare, you will play a vital role in supporting children's education by preparing healthy and nutritious meals and snacks. You will work closely with a team dedicated to fostering a positive environment for young learners, ensuring they receive the necessary fuel to thrive. Your responsibilities will include maintaining kitchen hygiene, ordering supplies, and collaborating with center staff to achieve operational goals.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare healthy and tasty meals and snacks for children following a menu developed by an in-house nutritionist.
  • Maintain kitchen and related equipment safely and hygienically.
  • Order food and supplies as needed.
  • Dispense and store medication, as requested.
  • Complete timely and accurate documentation according to KinderCare and licensing requirements.
  • Assist with other daily center duties as needed.
  • Collaborate with center staff and leadership to support enrollment, accreditation, and engagement goals.

Requirements

  • Familiarity with food storage conditions and understanding of food allergies.
  • Ability to follow nutritious menus and prepare sufficient quantities of food.
  • Basic math skills for measuring and calculating serving portions.
  • Possess a Food Handler's License or willingness to obtain one.
  • At least one year of institutional cooking experience; food ordering experience is highly desirable.
  • Two or more years of experience working with children is highly desirable.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 40 pounds and work in classrooms or the kitchen.
  • Proficient in reading, writing, understanding, and speaking English.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a childcare setting.
  • Knowledge of nutrition and dietary needs for children.
