About the position

The Cook at KinderCare Learning Companies plays a vital role in supporting the nutritional needs of children in early childhood education settings. This position involves preparing healthy meals and snacks, maintaining kitchen hygiene, and collaborating with center staff to ensure a positive learning environment for children. The Cook will follow menus developed by a nutritionist and ensure compliance with food safety standards while contributing to the overall success of the center.

Responsibilities

• Prepare healthy and tasty meals and snacks for children.
• Maintain kitchen and related equipment safely and hygienically.
• Order food and supplies as needed.
• Dispense and store medication, as requested.
• Complete timely and accurate documentation according to KinderCare and other licensing or regulation requirements.
• Assist with other daily center duties as needed.
• Support center success by partnering with staff and leadership to achieve goals.

Requirements

• Familiarity with food storage conditions and food allergies.
• Ability to follow nutritious menus and prepare sufficient quantities of food.
• Basic math skills for measuring and calculating serving portions.
• Possess a Food Handler's License or willingness to obtain one.
• At least one year of institutional cooking experience; food ordering experience is highly desirable.
• Two or more years of experience working with children is highly desirable.
• Physical ability to lift up to 40 pounds and work in classrooms or the kitchen.
• Read, write, understand, and speak English to communicate effectively.
