About the position

The Cook is responsible for organizing and preparing hot food items for breakfast, lunch, and dinner meals for patients/residents and the cafeteria. This role includes performing some baking and ensuring the next day's production for meals. Additionally, the Cook supervises kitchen staff in the absence of the Food Service General Manager, Chef, Dietician, and Diet Tech on duty.

Responsibilities

  • Organize and prepare hot food items for breakfast, lunch, and dinner meals.
  • Perform baking tasks as required.
  • Ensure next day production for breakfast, lunch, and dinner meals is prepared.
  • Supervise kitchen staff in the absence of the Food Service GM, Chef, Dietician, and Diet Tech.

Requirements

  • Minimum of high school education required.
  • Culinary arts training is desired.
  • At least 5 years' experience in a similar capacity desired.
  • Ability to prepare a variety of foods in quantity.
  • Familiarity with cooking characteristics of various cuts of meat.
  • Knowledge of names and contents of various types of dishes.
  • Understanding of proper portion control procedures.
