About the position

The position involves supervising and instructing inmate workers in food preparation and kitchen operations within a correctional facility. The role is crucial for ensuring public safety and preparing individuals for successful reentry into the community by fostering a humane and secure environment. The incumbent will oversee food production, maintain sanitation standards, and ensure the security of the institution while providing continual training to inmate workers.

Responsibilities

  • Provide supervision and instruction to 25-30 inmate workers assigned to various kitchen duties.
  • Conduct continual training for inmate workers in food production, presentation, and sanitation.
  • Oversee the receiving, storing, and issuing of food and non-food items.
  • Manage security operations including key control, knife control, and inmate accountability.
  • Conduct routine contraband searches throughout the work area.
  • Maintain the overall security of the institution as part of the correctional staff.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Must possess an approved Food Protection Manager Certification from an ANSI accredited provider.
  • Sufficient training and experience to perform the duties of the position, demonstrating ability to supervise and work with prisoners.

  • Experience in large quantity food preparation.
