About the position

The position involves supervising and instructing inmate workers in food preparation and kitchen operations within a correctional facility. The incumbent will oversee food production, maintain security protocols, and provide continual training to inmate workers, ensuring compliance with health and safety standards.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and instruct 25-30 inmate workers in various kitchen roles including cooks, bakers, and dish workers.
  • Provide continual training to inmate workers on food production, presentation, and sanitation.
  • Oversee the receiving, storing, and issuing of food and non-food items.
  • Maintain security operations including key control and inmate accountability.
  • Conduct routine contraband searches throughout the work area.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety standards in food preparation.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Must possess an approved Food Protection Manager Certification from an ANSI accredited provider.
  • Sufficient training and experience to perform the duties of the position.
  • Ability to supervise and work with prisoners.
