About the position
The position involves supervising and instructing inmate workers in a correctional facility, focusing on food preparation and safety. The role is essential for maintaining security while providing training and oversight to ensure compliance with food safety standards and operational procedures. The incumbent will be responsible for the overall management of food service operations, including training, security, and sanitation practices.
Responsibilities
- Provide supervision and instruction to 25-30 inmate workers assigned to various food service roles.
- Conduct continual training for inmate workers on food production, presentation, and sanitation.
- Oversee the receiving, storing, and issuing of food and non-food items.
- Manage security operations including key control and contraband searches.
- Maintain the security of the institution as a primary responsibility.
Requirements
- U.S. Citizenship is required.
- Must possess an approved Food Protection Manager Certification from an ANSI accredited provider.
- Sufficient training and experience to perform the duties of the position, particularly in food preparation and supervision.
- Ability to supervise and work with prisoners.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience in large quantity cooking and knowledge of special diets.
- Prior experience in a correctional environment.
