About the position

The Cook position at Enriched Senior Living involves preparing meals for residents while adhering to dietary restrictions and guidelines. This role is essential in creating a welcoming dining experience and requires collaboration with the Activities Director for community events. The Cook will ensure the kitchen meets health standards and maintain a well-stocked food supply for emergencies.

Responsibilities

• Prepare meals as directed by the Menu Plan.
• Implement all special diets and restrictions.
• Work closely with the Activities Director to coordinate celebrations, community events, and theme nights.
• Be responsive to residents and their families.
• Dedicate to understanding issues in dementia to support a model dining program.
• Exemplify 'person-directed' care and the mission statement to residents and families.
• Post menus for one month in advance with a licensed dietician's signature.
• Archive an accurate history of what was served.
• Plan and post an alternative meal daily.
• Maintain a sanitary kitchen in accordance with State Guidelines.
• Keep at least a seven-day supply of food at all times for emergencies.
• Ensure food storage areas are neat, clean, and orderly.
• Meet and qualify the State Rules and Regulations for food service employees.
• Complete a food sanitation course acceptable to the State Department of Health.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• Texas Food Handler Certification
• Minimum 1 year professional kitchen experience
• Reliable transportation
• Must be over 18 years old
• Ability to complete infection control training and have no communicable diseases
• Pass a criminal background check/drug test
