About the position

The Cook position at Food City involves preparing quality food and providing excellent customer service in a friendly and efficient manner. The role supports the company's mission to create a positive shopping experience while ensuring food safety and quality standards are met. Cooks will be cross-trained in various responsibilities within the Food Service department, contributing to a collaborative work environment.

Responsibilities

• Ensure efficient and courteous customer service at all times.
• Maintain a positive attitude and create a friendly atmosphere through teamwork.
• Greet and speak to customers, providing prompt and efficient service.
• Prepare all food for the Food Service department according to manual guidelines.
• Produce quality food and products to meet customer and company expectations.
• Prepare grill orders and use fryer per manual guidelines.
• Slice meats and cheeses as needed.
• Assist in proper rotation of products in coolers and freezers.
• Maintain good code dates on all products.
• Put up stock and assist in ordering products and supplies for daily operations.
• Ensure packaged products for self-service are properly packaged with correct weights and ingredients.
• Keep workstation and surrounding area neat and clean, including washing dishes and mopping.
• Assist in cross-training for multiple areas with varying responsibilities.

Requirements

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Food Service experience is a plus, but not required.
• Ability to meet standard physical, mental, and visual demands.
• Ability to understand and follow verbal and/or written instructions.
• Ability to perform routine and repetitive tasks with constant interaction with various individuals.
• Ability to attend on-site work during scheduled shifts.
