About the position

The Cook at Charter Senior Living of Dedham is responsible for preparing and serving nutritious and delicious meals for residents in an assisted living environment. Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook meals according to established menus, recipes, and dietary guidelines.
  • Assist in planning weekly menus that cater to residents' dietary needs and preferences.
  • Follow all food safety and sanitation procedures, including proper food handling and cleanliness protocols.
  • Engage with residents in a friendly and respectful manner, addressing meal preferences and dietary concerns.
  • Monitor food inventory levels, manage ordering of supplies, and ensure freshness of ingredients.
  • Maintain kitchen equipment and appliances in good working condition, reporting any issues to the Food Services Manager.
  • Work effectively with other kitchen staff to ensure smooth meal service operations and contribute to a positive work environment.
  • Complete and maintain required documentation for health and safety compliance.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Culinary certification or relevant vocational training is a plus.
  • Previous experience as a cook, preferably in a healthcare or assisted living setting, is desirable.
  • Strong culinary skills with a focus on food preparation and presentation.
  • Knowledge of food safety practices and dietary requirements for elderly residents.
  • Compassionate and patient demeanor with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
