About the position

This position is for a Cook at the Joint Base Charleston Star Lifter Bowling Center, responsible for performing a variety of simple cooking tasks. The role involves preparing and cooking food items that require minimal processing, ensuring food safety and quality, and maintaining cleanliness in the kitchen environment.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook simple food items such as pancakes, sausage, eggs, hamburgers, and vegetables.
• Prepare hot cereals, broiled meats, concentrated or dehydrated soups, sauces, and gravies.
• Make cold sandwich fillings and prepare convenience items like frozen hash browns and chicken nuggets.
• Weigh, measure, and assemble ingredients for menu items; set up and replenish salad bar; portion foods for service.
• Wash and clean kitchen equipment and perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Experience in food preparation and presentation methods in a grill, snack bar, restaurant, or similar food activity.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions and perform simple arithmetic.
• Knowledge of operating and cleaning food service equipment and seasoning food according to procedures.
• Physical ability to frequently lift objects weighing up to 40 pounds and stand for long periods.
