About the position

The Cooperative Equity Data Analyst plays a crucial role in the administration and facilitation of data analysis, validation, and reporting for Organic Valley's cooperative equity programs. This position is responsible for managing the cooperative's privately held preferred stock offerings, including outside preferred stock securities and member preferred stock, as well as overseeing member common voting stock and patronage/non-patronage business administration. The role requires a combination of administrative review, reconciliation, data analysis, and collaborative work functions to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, cooperative bylaws, and the cooperative's governing documents. In this highly technical position, the analyst will facilitate the collection of patronage and non-patronage data on both cash and accrual bases to meet the cooperative's reporting needs. This includes preparing data for 1099 reporting, corporate tax returns, patronage distribution, and capital base plans. The analyst will also collaborate cross-functionally to ensure data integrity and compliance, review and validate equity and patronage data, and reconcile cash activities within the equity department's general ledger accounts. The role involves administering the annual capital base requirement review, maintaining business rules for data management, and structuring large data sets to extract usable information. The analyst will engage with internal customers to communicate changes and status updates, document and track development requests made to IT, and prepare meetings to review business requirements. Additionally, the analyst will support the equity team with various duties as needed, ensuring that all tasks align with the cooperative's mission and operational goals.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate the collection of patronage and non-patronage data on both a cash and accrual basis to meet the cooperative's reporting needs.
  • Collaborate with staff cross-functionally to ensure compliance with the cooperative's business model and integrity of data flow through the cooperative's systems.
  • Review, analyze and validate equity and patronage data across cooperative systems to ensure integrity and compliance with regulatory agencies.
  • Reconcile all cash in and cash out activities for all related general ledger accounts within the equity department.
  • Administer the annual capital base requirement review, system update, and communication process for member patron investment requirements.
  • Identify, document and maintain business rules and requirements for data management of the cooperative's equity and patronage programs.
  • Structure large data sets compiled from multiple systems to find usable information using effective data analytics methods.
  • Engage with internal customers and stakeholders to communicate changes and status updates.
  • Document, track and test development and reporting requests made to IT for functional maintenance within the cooperative's equity application.
  • Maintain regular contact with IT regarding the status of requested work orders for the cooperative equity department.
  • Prepare and facilitate meetings with IT to review business requirements for development and reporting requests.
  • Support equity team with other duties as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in data analytics, business analytics, accounting or related field required.
  • 2 years related work experience, preferred.
  • Conceptual understanding and working knowledge of system structures, data hierarchies and workflows required.
  • Understanding of accounting principles with the ability to understand financial data and related concepts.
  • Ability and interest in understanding cooperative business models and patronage programs preferred.
  • Self-motivated, organized, and possess clear and strong communication skills.
  • Ability to provide regular status updates to teammates, co-workers, and manager.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to identify technical details and summarize high-level results for documentation and decision making.
  • Must have a growth mindset with the ability to observe, analyze, communicate, and implement process improvements.

  • Ability to understand table structures, system views & flag settings within databases.
  • Ability to export, review and manipulate data outside of systems and import a finished product back into systems for documentation and storage.
  • Working knowledge of current data analytics methods and tools.
  • Intermediate level of proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with advanced knowledge specifically in Excel.
