About the position

The University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC) is seeking a Coordinator of Operations to join the student-centered team that creates the UMBC at Shady Grove community. This position is critical in fostering a positive environment for all community members at UMBC at Shady Grove. The Coordinator will oversee the Welcome Center, ensuring operational and business process efficiencies, managing space allocation, and enhancing student services. This role is essential in creating a welcoming atmosphere and supporting the diverse needs of students and staff alike. The Coordinator will be responsible for selecting, training, supervising, and managing the student worker team staffing the Welcome Center. This includes creating, documenting, and implementing operational infrastructure and workflows to manage various administrative services such as adjunct instruction contracts, class scheduling, space reservation, event scheduling, lab supply ordering, and student communications. The Coordinator will work closely with colleagues, faculty, and Program Directors to promote and provide outstanding student services, ensuring that the needs of the UMBC at Shady Grove community are met effectively. In addition to these responsibilities, the Coordinator will engage in additional projects that support the dynamic, student-centered work of the UMBC at Shady Grove team. This position is located at the Universities at Shady Grove in Rockville, MD, and offers a hybrid telework schedule, providing flexibility in work arrangements.

Responsibilities

  • Select, train, supervise and manage the student worker team staffing the Welcome Center.
  • Create, document and implement operational infrastructure and workflows to manage adjunct instruction contracts, class scheduling, space reservation, event scheduling, lab supply ordering, student communications, and other administrative services.
  • Work closely with colleagues, faculty and Program Directors to promote and provide outstanding student services.
  • Engage in additional projects to support the diverse and dynamic student-centered work of the UMBC at Shady Grove team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Experience managing projects, workflows, efficient procedures or related area.
