About the position

The Coordinator of Athletic Operations at Le Moyne College plays a crucial role in the operational management of the college's athletic program, which sponsors 21 NCAA Division I teams. This position is responsible for assisting the Associate Athletic Director in coordinating the internal operations of intercollegiate athletics, ensuring that all aspects of the program function efficiently and effectively. The Coordinator will oversee various operational elements including facilities management, game operations, inventory and equipment management, and laundry services, all while fostering a safe and supportive environment for student-athletes, coaches, and staff. In terms of game and event operations, the Coordinator will assist in planning, organizing, and executing all game and event operations, which encompass indoor, outdoor, and off-campus contests, practices, camps, clinics, and fundraising events. This includes overseeing the distribution and execution of game contracts and agreements, serving as a point of contact for visiting teams and officials, and coordinating with various campus departments to ensure smooth operations during events. The position also involves managing the athletic facilities, including scheduling and maintenance, and coordinating with physical plant services and other departments for events hosted in these facilities. Additionally, the Coordinator will be responsible for the management of athletic equipment and uniforms, ensuring proper acquisition, tracking, maintenance, and distribution. Laundry management is another critical aspect of this role, as the Coordinator will oversee the timely laundering of practice gear and uniforms for all varsity teams. Overall, the Coordinator of Athletic Operations is expected to demonstrate Le Moyne College's mission-based competencies, including collaboration, communication, diversity, integrity, leadership, and service, in every interaction with community members and external parties. This role is vital in supporting the college's commitment to providing a high-quality athletic experience for its student-athletes.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the supervision of 40-50 student employees including administrative assistants, facility managers, equipment managers, laundry workers, game/event staff, concessions, tickets, promotions, and security.
  • Assist in the planning, organizing, and executing of all game/event operations including indoor, outdoor, and off-campus contests, practices, camps, clinics, and athletics fundraising events.
  • Oversee the distribution and execution of all game contracts and agreements.
  • Serve as a contact for all visiting teams, game officials, and conference personnel.
  • Work with game officials and their respective assigning services.
  • Assist in the execution of the emergency action plan in the event of a non-medical emergency.
  • Coordinate with dining services, campus security, and custodial services for event operations.
  • Assist in the maintenance, scheduling, and use of the athletics facilities including all outdoor and indoor game and practice facilities.
  • Coordinate work orders and scheduling with physical plant/facilities, grounds, custodial services, and campus safety.
  • Assist in the acquisition, tracking, conditioning, repair, maintenance, inventory, and distribution of all athletic equipment and uniforms.
  • Manage and ensure timely laundry operations for practice gear, towels, and uniforms for 21 Varsity Athletic Teams and sports medicine.
  • Oversee proper maintenance of equipment and inspect uniforms and practice gear for hygiene and performance standards.
  • Assist the department's liaison with Campus Security, Dining Services, Grounds, Custodial Services, Facilities, Student Development, Alumni Affairs, Event Management Team, and Advancement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent education and experience required.
  • Interest in athletics and sports management.
  • Willingness to work evening and weekend hours.
  • Demonstrated managerial skills and ability to work with others.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
