About the position

The Benefits and Accommodations Coordinator at Austin Community College is responsible for coordinating and facilitating requests for leaves and accommodations, ensuring compliance with relevant laws such as the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). This role involves managing the leave administration process, advising employees and managers, and maintaining accurate records of leave and accommodation requests. The Coordinator also serves as the ADA Coordinator for the College, focusing on fostering an inclusive environment for all employees.

Responsibilities

  • Administers and ensures compliance with the ADA regarding accommodations for ACC employees.
  • Handles the FMLA leave administration process from initial notice to return to work.
  • Maintains communication with employees on leave to facilitate a smooth return to work.
  • Gathers, assesses, and analyzes data on leave and accommodations.
  • Advises managers and employees on leave laws and their interactions with other benefits.
  • Coordinates the Sick Leave Pool Program and return-to-work processes.
  • Administers various leave programs and processes disability claims as needed.
  • Advises and answers inquiries from employees and supervisors regarding leave-related issues.
  • Maintains complete and accurate records of leave and accommodation requests.
  • Assists with benefit enrollment and other benefit programs as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or four years of related work experience as a substitute.
  • Three years of full-time progressively responsible human resources experience, including direct experience in benefit program administration and workplace accommodations.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with coordination in a State of Texas agency.
  • Experience with Workday.
  • Familiarity with Workers' Compensation programs.
  • Familiarity with ergonomic evaluations and processes.
