About the position

The Coordinator, Education and Virtual Learning at the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) is responsible for developing and coordinating virtual Professional Development and Education programs that benefit AZA membership. This role involves collaboration with various AZA departments and focuses on managing virtual learning initiatives, including webinars and workshops, while also supporting in-person courses as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate all aspects of AZA Professional Development virtual learning including webinars, workshops, and virtual courses.
  • Lead the management of AZA Learn (LMS), including uploading content, managing registration, and creating asynchronous content.
  • Work with the Director of Professional Development & Education to create plans for the Professional Development and Education Program.
  • Compile, analyze, and present the Education Annual Report on Conservation and Science (ARCS).
  • Assist with all aspects of AZA Professional Development in-person courses as needed.
  • Liaise with and manage relationships with consultants, vendors, and partners.
  • Assist in the development and management of the Professional Development Program annual budget.
  • Work with accounting staff to process and track reimbursements and payments.
  • Coordinate the development of new Professional Development courses with members and consultants.
  • Serve as a front-line resource for AZA members and the public regarding the Professional Development Program.
  • Support professional development branding and programming initiatives.
  • Assist with moving and packing boxes for Professional Development Courses.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years experience in education/professional development or related work.
  • Experience developing and/or facilitating virtual learning.
  • Experience managing or facilitating professional development, education, or training programs for adult audiences.
  • Strong proficiency with technology, particularly Zoom and Microsoft Teams.
  • Experience functioning as admin for an online learning management system (LMS) preferred.
  • Ability to establish effective working relationships and work independently.
  • Demonstrated good judgment and strong decision-making skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Familiarity with current best practices in conservation education and/or professional development.
  • Experience working in a zoo, aquarium, or related organization.
  • Enthusiasm to learn new skills and technologies.
