About the position

The Coordinator for Emerging Technologies at the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) is responsible for providing training and support for faculty and students on projects related to emerging technologies and digital fabrication techniques, including Augmented Reality, Virtual Reality, and 3D Printing. This role involves managing and maintaining equipment, conducting workshops, and assisting with digital output for PrintFX + FabLab. The position requires both teamwork and independent work, with occasional evening and weekend hours based on project needs.

Responsibilities

• Provide Faculty Research Space (FRS) services during walk-in hours and by appointment.
• Respond to student/faculty questions regarding software issues related to 2D/3D printing.
• Conduct workshops on emerging technologies for faculty and students.
• Manage and maintain equipment associated with training and support.
• Support production services offered by Print FX-FabLab.
• Troubleshoot software and hardware issues as they arise.
• Develop and oversee an FRS emerging technology database.
• Maintain equipment and supply stock for FRS technologies.
• Assist with fabrication support and production work in designated lab spaces.
• Provide training to faculty and students on emerging technologies.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Design, Information Technology, or a related field; Associate's degree required.
• 3-5 years of relevant business experience.
• At least 2 years' experience in providing training on emerging technologies such as 3D Scanning, AR VR, and rapid-prototyping techniques.

Nice-to-haves

• 5+ years of relevant business experience.
• Strong working knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud applications.
• Experience operating and repairing fabrication equipment such as CNC Routers.
• Knowledge of prototyping platforms and associated development environments.
