About the position

The Coordinator for Athletics Venues and Operations at Texas A&M University is a pivotal role that supports the day-to-day operations of various athletic venues on the West Campus. This position works closely with the Assistant Manager of West Campus and the Assistant Athletic Director to ensure that all venues, including the Mitchell Tennis Center, West Campus Player Development Center, Davis Diamond, and Paup Aquatic Center, are maintained and operated efficiently. The Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating maintenance, scheduling, and operational tasks to create a seamless experience for athletes and visitors alike. In this role, the Coordinator will identify maintenance issues and coordinate necessary repairs, ensuring that all venues are clean, safe, and ready for use. This includes overseeing staff requests for furniture and equipment moves, performing light maintenance work, and preparing work orders. Regular inspections will be conducted to monitor cleanliness and safety, and the Coordinator will also keep abreast of events that may impact the facilities. On game days, the Coordinator will lead venue management efforts, including the setup and breakdown of events, serving as the on-site customer liaison, and ensuring that all activities run smoothly. This role requires strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, as well as the capacity to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends. Additionally, the Coordinator will oversee student assistant staff, ensuring they are trained and effectively scheduled. Compliance with NCAA and university regulations is crucial, and the Coordinator will be responsible for maintaining communication and enforcement of these rules among staff and student workers. This position is integral to the success of Texas A&M Athletics, contributing to the mission of creating opportunities through championship athletics.

Responsibilities

  • Identify maintenance issues throughout athletic venues and determine the need for repairs.
  • Coordinate staff with venue requests, including furniture/equipment moves and assembly.
  • Perform light maintenance work as needed.
  • Prepare required work orders, prioritize tasks, track progress, and communicate with coaches and staff.
  • Conduct regular inspections for cleanliness, orderliness, maintenance, safety, and ease of passage.
  • Monitor media to identify events that may affect facilities and campus resources.
  • Coordinate with maintenance regarding supply inventory and equipment storage for assigned venues.
  • Manage storage operations and site safety and security for assigned venues.
  • Serve as the after-hours contact for assigned venues.
  • Lead and assist in game day venue management for assigned operations, including setup and breakdown of events.
  • Provide on-site customer liaison during events and assist with venue-related in-game management.
  • Ensure venues are prepared for practices, competitions, and other scheduled activities.
  • Coordinate with the Events Management department for special events as needed.
  • Conduct post-event reviews and follow-ups.
  • Oversee Operations student assistant staff, including hiring, training, and scheduling.
  • Maintain venue operations guides and recommend policy and procedure implementations.
  • Coordinate with branding at assigned venues.
  • Maintain familiarity with NCAA, Conference, and University rules and regulations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Two years of experience working in the live event industry and/or prior event operations related work experience.
  • Ability to allocate work assignments and maximize effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Strong organizational, planning, and prioritization skills.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to analyze problems and develop alternative solutions.
  • Enthusiastic with a desire to work hard and have fun.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree.
  • Two or more years of related experience in athletic operations and/or operations.
  • Previous experience managing a student staff.
  • Knowledge of building management and venue operations.
  • Familiarity with and ability to use various power tools.
  • Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Excellent communication skills.
