About the position

The Coordinator for Staffing and Operations is a full-time, live-in professional role responsible for managing a comprehensive student housing program at Cameron University, serving a community of up to 650 residents. This position plays a crucial role in fostering student success and ensuring effective operations within the Student Housing and Residence Life department.

Responsibilities

  • Execute Cameron University's commitment to student success professionally and efficiently.
  • Supervise Resident Assistants (typically 4-5) and student interns.
  • Manage a community of 100-225 residents.
  • Oversee the student conduct process within the assigned community.
  • Work with Resident Assistant staff members individually to ensure their growth and development.
  • Manage facility access and schedule Resident Assistant duty for area coverage.
  • Plan and execute the recruitment, selection, hiring, and training of all Resident Assistants.
  • Assist with the exterior door and elevator schedules for housing facilities.
  • Conduct Health and Safety room inspections.
  • Plan and manage the Resident Assistant evaluation process including resident feedback.
  • Assist with Resident Assistant training and selection.
  • Update the Resident Assistant manual and other related documents.
  • Participate in emergency and crisis prevention planning and preparation.
  • Respond appropriately to emergency or crisis situations as they arise.
  • Assist with department assessment efforts and departmental initiatives.
  • Open and close housing at the beginning and ending of each semester.
  • Participate in a professional staff on-call rotation.
  • Maintain office hours (generally 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Monday-Friday).
  • Perform other related duties as needed to support departmental goals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree by time of appointment.
  • Two years of experience either living on or working in housing or residence life.
  • Willingness to be on-call and work evenings and weekends as necessary.
  • Ability to pass a background screening.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's Degree in higher education, student affairs, educational administration, or related field.
  • Experience supervising Resident Assistants.
  • Post-undergraduate work experience in housing or residence life.
