About the position

The Coordinator for HUD-VASH Services at the Tunnel to Towers Foundation plays a crucial role in supporting homeless veterans through the VA HUD-VASH program. This position is dedicated to honoring the sacrifices made by military personnel and first responders, aligning with the foundation's mission to provide assistance to those in need. The Coordinator will be responsible for receiving and processing electronic referrals from VA HUD-VASH team members, ensuring that all documentation is accurately recorded and tracked throughout the referral process. This includes maintaining professional communication with team members and landlords via email and phone, as well as uploading necessary documentation into tracking software to ensure completeness and accuracy. In addition to processing referrals, the Coordinator will engage in onboarding new VA HUD-VASH programs across the United States, demonstrating the ability to educate groups virtually about the referral submission process. Excellent customer service is paramount, as the Coordinator will consistently communicate with HUD-VASH team members and landlords regarding the status of referrals, payment verifications, and follow-ups to ensure timely payments are received. The role also involves collecting veteran-related stories for review and forwarding thank-you messages from veterans to the Marketing & Communications Department. The Coordinator will need to maintain regular communication with their supervisor regarding caseloads, challenges faced, and any additional support required. This position may also involve addressing barriers and complaints from HUD-VASH team members and landlords, ensuring that service gaps are identified and communicated effectively. Overall, the Coordinator will play a vital role in facilitating the HUD-VASH program's operations and supporting the foundation's mission to assist homeless veterans.

Responsibilities

  • Receive and process electronic referrals submitted by VA HUD-VASH team members.
  • Navigate software to record, collect, and document each referral submitted.
  • Engage professionally via email and phone with HUD-VASH team members and landlords.
  • Upload all documentation into tracking software and ensure completeness for tracking from referral to payment.
  • Maintain ongoing professional relationships with HUD-VASH Team Members.
  • Provide onboarding to new VA HUD-VASH programs across the United States.
  • Educate groups virtually about the mission and goal of submitting web-based referrals or faxing referrals.
  • Provide excellent customer service over the phone, email, and in person.
  • Communicate ongoing status of referrals, payment verifications, and follow-ups with HUD-VASH and landlords.
  • Obtain veteran-related stories from HUD-VASH team members for review.
  • Forward thank-you messages from veterans to the Marketing & Communications Department.
  • Discuss barriers, complaints, and service gaps with leadership.
  • Maintain regular communications with supervisor on caseload and challenges.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Ability to write grammatically correct emails with minimal errors.
  • Excellent customer service and public relations skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and independently.
  • Understanding and compassion for Veteran Culture and Veteran's Homelessness.
  • Detail-oriented with strong time management skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Suite (or equivalent).
