About the position

The Coordinator I, Payroll is responsible for planning and executing all payroll-related functions for Goodwill of Colorado and its affiliates. This role involves ensuring accurate payment and tracking of payroll expenses, maintaining communication with various departments, and addressing payroll-related inquiries from employees. The position operates under the supervision of the Payroll Manager and requires a strong understanding of payroll procedures and software.

Responsibilities

  • Perform all payroll related functions as determined by the Payroll Manager.
  • Ensure timecards and electronic time reports are received and properly documented.
  • Respond to payroll-related questions from employees via phone, email, or helpdesk.
  • Enter data into the payroll software and create electronic time batches.
  • Distribute payroll checks/vouchers bi-weekly or weekly as required.
  • Ensure compliance with legally required wage withholding and tax information.
  • Verify employee eligibility for direct deposit and manage related processes.
  • Run standard payroll reports as required, including wage summaries and verifications.
  • Develop expertise in payroll software and train other staff as needed.
  • Maintain confidentiality of financial, payroll, and personnel information.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent with some bookkeeping or accounting courses.
  • Three years of previous experience in payroll or accounting is preferred.
  • Solid background in applying accounting and payroll procedures.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Computer proficiency, including experience with word processing, spreadsheets, and payroll systems.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with UKG payroll software is a plus.
  • Knowledge of federal and state payroll regulations.
