The Coordinator III - Project Coordinator at Sam Houston State University is responsible for assisting in the coordination and development of specific programs assigned to them. This role involves managing various logistical aspects of program execution, including scheduling, contract negotiations, and supply ordering, while also ensuring effective communication and relationship-building with participants and instructors.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates the overall program assigned, including scheduling dates on the LEMIT calendar.
  • Reserves classrooms and negotiates contracts with instructors.
  • Develops the registration process and orders necessary supplies.
  • Negotiates hotel room block contracts and banquet/audio-visual services.
  • Speaks in front of groups and manages classroom dynamics effectively.
  • Analyzes information accurately to adopt effective courses of action.
  • Develops relationships with participants, instructors, and professional organizations.
  • Analyzes and solves complex technical problems.
  • Assumes independent responsibility for decisions and actions.
  • Effectively directs the work of team members.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • Three years of professional experience in teaching, training, employee development, leadership development, project management, or event planning.
  • A combination of education, experience, and training that provides the required knowledge and abilities.
