About the position

The Coordinator for Manufacturing, Engineering, Trades, and Transportation (METT) at Des Moines Area Community College is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Commercial Driver License training and other specialized industry programs. This role involves curriculum development, marketing coordination, and maintaining compliance with industry and regulatory standards. The coordinator will work closely with industry representatives and manage class schedules, ensuring effective training delivery and fostering relationships with various stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the creation and implementation of curriculum revisions and updates to reflect current industry and college standards and regulations.
  • Work with industry representatives to develop customized training to meet local market needs.
  • Coordinate marketing efforts to promote programs and recruit students.
  • Foster cooperative relationships with industry, funding agencies, and government agencies.
  • Assist in scheduling and assignment for all classes, students, and instructors for all programs.
  • Maintain records of trainees in compliance with federal and state regulations.
  • Assist with the day-to-day operation of the Transportation Institute and troubleshoot issues that arise related to the facility.
  • Assist the Director and Dean regarding non-credit programs including enrollment, recruiting, and day-to-day operation.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree with five years of professional or administrative work experience in training and development, marketing, or related area.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with industries, educational organizations, and governmental organizations.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and manage time effectively.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain professional working relationships with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  • Knowledge of current software applications.
