About the position

The Coordinator of Equipment & Event Operations at Villanova University plays a crucial role in managing the athletics equipment operations and overseeing event management for various athletic programs. This position involves collaboration with athletic directors, coaches, and vendors to ensure the smooth operation of equipment logistics and event execution, all while adhering to NCAA and university regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Associate Athletic Director - Internal Operations and Associate Athletic Director - Facilities & Event Operations in managing athletics equipment operations.
  • Oversee the set-up of venues for scheduled NCAA contests and other campus athletic events.
  • Manage the ordering, receiving, inventory, distribution, and maintenance of equipment for assigned sports.
  • Develop and maintain inventory control systems for equipment management.
  • Negotiate bids with vendors for purchasing necessary equipment for varsity programs.
  • Participate in the budget process, tracking and settling all expenses related to equipment operations.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records and initiate requests for replenishment of team items.
  • Coordinate with coaches to identify equipment needs for assigned sports.
  • Assist in hiring, supervising, training, and scheduling student staff for equipment operations.
  • Coordinate laundry services for all athletic programs after practices, games, and training sessions.
  • Act as the primary contact for game day management for Men's and Women's Soccer home events.
  • Supervise and train event staff, preparing home venues for competition in collaboration with university constituents.
  • Serve as the on-site Event Manager at designated home contests.
  • Manage facility scheduling for Higgins Soccer Complex, Farley Hall soccer wing, and West Campus Tennis Courts.
  • Assist with event management for larger events such as Men's Basketball, Commencement, and Big East Championships.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree required.
  • Two years of experience in equipment operations and/or facilities operations in a collegiate setting, preferably at a Division I institution.
  • Experience in an athletics department equipment room, preferably at the Division I level.
  • Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations regarding uniforms and equipment.
  • Experience in managing daily facility operations and events.
  • Proficiency with personal computer applications and inventory control systems.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills with attention to detail.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's Degree in sport administration or related field preferred.
  • Experience working in a Division I Athletics Equipment room is a plus.
  • Budget planning and management experience is a plus.
