About the position

The Coordinator of Fraternity and Sorority Life (FSL) oversees the fraternity and sorority community's daily operations, supports student leaders, and fosters an inclusive environment that promotes academic achievement, leadership development, and community engagement. This position involves advising student organizations, coordinating events, managing chapter operations, and implementing educational programs related to hazing prevention, risk management, and diversity. This position collaborates with campus offices to ensure the FSL community aligns with institutional policies and supports student growth. They liaise between the university, inter/national organizations, and local chapters to enhance student experience.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees the recruitment process for fraternities, ensures that students are informed about the benefits of membership, and assists organizations with strategies to retain members.
  • Provides guidance and support to fraternity and sorority chapter leaders, officers, and members, helping them navigate university policies, develop leadership skills, and resolve conflicts.
  • Designs and executes educational programs and workshops that promote personal development, leadership, diversity, academic success, and social responsibility within the Fraternity and Sorority Life (FSL) community.
  • Ensures that fraternities and sororities adhere to university policies, national organization standards, and legal requirements, including hazing prevention, alcohol management, and member safety.
  • Fosters a positive relationship between fraternal organizations, the broader student body, and the local community through collaborative events, service opportunities, and initiatives that enhance the campus climate.
  • Monitors and assesses the effectiveness of fraternity and sorority programs and activities, collecting data on membership trends, academic performance, and other key metrics to guide decision-making and improve the student experience.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree and two (2) years of experience working in a higher education setting as a student or professional.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to effectively communicate with students, faculty, staff, administrators, and external stakeholders.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills, including the ability to build rapport, establish trust, and resolve conflicts effectively.
  • Ability to collect, analyze, and interpret data related to FSL activities, membership trends, and program outcomes.
  • Ability to adapt to changing circumstances and priorities, and to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • Ability to identify and analyze problems, develop creative solutions, and implement effective interventions.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, including the ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in using various software applications, including word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and presentation software.
  • Ability to effectively collaborate with colleagues, campus partners, and external stakeholders to achieve common goals.
