About the position

The Coordinator of Human Resources - Compensation plays a crucial role in managing the compensation program within the human resources department. This position is responsible for ensuring that compensation information is current and aligned with the needs of the district. The coordinator will participate in various salary and wage publications, training, and networking opportunities to stay informed about compensation trends and best practices. They will calculate all district salaries, adjustments, and supplements as needed, acting as the custodian of data for payroll processing and Texas Retirement System (TRS) reporting. This includes data verification, report analysis, compensation analysis, and management of compensation calculations. In addition to managing compensation data, the coordinator will assist with data entry processes and reconciliation of personnel changes to ensure that all district employees are paid correctly and on time. They will recommend and calculate salary placements for newly hired employees and those who are promoted, working closely with payroll, budgeting, accounting, and other departments to determine the appropriate accounts for compensation. The coordinator will also notify employees of salary adjustments and overpayments, maintain compensation data in the district's Human Resources/Payroll system, and ensure that the district's compensation guidelines and procedures handbook is up to date. The role requires addressing inquiries regarding employee salaries, establishing and maintaining staffing lists, and compiling resignation lists for the school board's weekly packet. The coordinator will ensure that stipend lists submitted by campuses comply with administrative regulations and will lead the design and implementation of salary notices for all permanent employees. They will also be responsible for Texas Education Agency PEIMS requirements and validation of data related to employee compensation, including contract days, salaries, supplements, and budget accounts. The coordinator will supervise the rollover function of personnel and compensation data at the fiscal and school year end, generate and distribute compensation reports, and assist Human Resources Administrators with updates to administrative regulations pertaining to compensation. Furthermore, the coordinator will work with a team of Human Resources and Financial Services professionals to implement the new school year compensation plan, maintain Position Control, and manage the district's compensation program, including the implementation of raises and the development of salary schedules. They will conduct new employee orientation on compensation procedures, provide input on district personnel/payroll procedures, verify employee contracts and assignments, and support the district's social media efforts to highlight accomplishments and improve communication with stakeholders. The coordinator will also demonstrate a high level of independent, ethical, and professional conduct while providing optimal customer service to all students, employees, parents, and community members.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures compensation information is current and appropriate to the District needs through participation in various salary and wage publications, training or other means of sharing/networking and calculates all district salaries, adjustments, and supplements as needed.
  • Acts as the custodian of data for payroll processing and TRS reporting. Responsible for data verification, report analysis, compensation analysis, compensation calculations and compensation management.
  • Assists with the data entry processes, and reconciliation of personnel changes to ensure all district employees are paid correctly and on a timely basis.
  • Recommends/Calculates salary placements for newly hired employees and employees who are promoted.
  • Works with payroll, budgeting, accounting and other departments, as necessary, to determine proper accounts used for compensation.
  • Responsible for notifying employees and applicable areas of salary adjustments and overpayment of salaries.
  • Maintains compensation data (payrates, pay families, pay grades, pay cycles, etc.) in district's Human Resources/Payroll system and ensures that the District's Compensation guidelines and procedures handbook is up to date.
  • Addresses inquiries regarding employee salaries.
  • Establishes and maintains staffing lists and compiles resignation list for the school Board's weekly packet and distributes pertinent information to appropriate areas/departments.
  • Ensures stipend lists submitted by the campus are in accordance with Administrative Regulation DEA and maintains and distributes approved stipend lists to Payroll and other departments.
  • Leads the design and implementation of salary notices for all permanent employees and ensures delivery and retrieval of such notices.
  • Responsible for the Texas Education Agency PEIMS requirements and validation of data as it pertains to employee compensation which includes contract days, salaries, supplements, and budget accounts.
  • Supervises and facilitates the rollover function of personnel and compensation data at fiscal and school year end.
  • Generates and distributes compensation reports/data for open records, payroll, and other fiscal matters as requested by administrators, employees, campuses and/or departments.
  • Maintains thorough working knowledge of personnel/payroll software and applications and makes recommendations for improvements.
  • Assists Human Resources Administrators with the maintenance and updates to Administrative Regulation DEA pertaining to compensation.
  • Works with a team of Human Resources and Financial Services Professionals on the implementation of the process for the new school year compensation plan.
  • Assists in maintaining Position Control to ensure proper staffing, accounts, and positions are correctly assigned to employees.
  • Responsible for managing the districts compensation program to include: implementation of raises, development of salary schedules, establishment pay rates for new hires and promotions.
  • Responsible for conducting new employee orientation on compensation procedures and guidelines.
  • Provides input on formulation and implementation of District personnel/payroll procedures.
  • Verifies employee annual contracts/assignments and changes and monitors the amounts paid year to date.
  • Supports the goals and objectives of the school district and follows all district policies.
  • Upholds and adheres to safety rules and policies of the SISD safety program.
  • Supports the district's social media efforts that highlight the hard work of our students and staff as well increase communication with all stakeholders.
  • Works directly with all district employees relating to compensation issues.
  • Performs any other duties as assigned by the appropriate supervisor.
  • Demonstrates the ability to attend work on a regular and routine basis to avoid disruption to district operations.
  • Demonstrates a high level of independent, ethical, and professional conduct.
  • Provides optimal customer service to all students, employees, parents, community members and any other stakeholders of the district.
  • Researches and analyzes human resources information for processing salary calculations (e.g. time sheets, attendance, timeclock, FMLA, etc.) to find any variances for resolution and ensuring accuracy and adherence to procedures for salary calculations/processing.
  • Supervises the Compensation Division.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources or relevant field and two (2) years' experience in relevant field; or Five (5) years' experience in relevant field.
  • Valid Texas Driver's License.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of federal and state laws related to human resources and local personnel policies and regulations.
  • Working knowledge of computer technology.
  • Ability to work independently to complete complex, special projects; organize and analyze information pertinent to the smooth operation of the district.
  • Advanced knowledge of data entry and data retrieval in computer and systems applications.
  • Accomplished proficiency and experience in data formulation, analysis, interpretation, and presentation as related to the district compensation plan.
  • Knowledge of the Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS) guidelines, reporting and accountability requirements for school districts.
  • Ability to work with multiple projects at the same time.
  • Demonstrated experience in Payroll, Compensation, or Human Resource related field.
