About the position

The Coordinator of Operations (Volleyball Tech Coordinator) at the University of Mississippi is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the university's volleyball program. This role involves coordinating various aspects of the program, including managing student workers, organizing team travel, and ensuring compliance with NCAA and SEC regulations. The incumbent will play a crucial role in supporting student-athletes by facilitating their adherence to strength and conditioning training regimens and personal development activities. Additionally, the coordinator will assist with recruiting efforts and promotional activities to enhance the visibility and success of the athletic program. In this position, the coordinator will be tasked with scheduling practice sites, arranging transportation, and managing meal and hotel accommodations for the team during travel. They will also be responsible for ordering and maintaining equipment inventory for student-athletes, ensuring that all necessary gear is available and in good condition. Collaboration with strength and conditioning and athletic training staff is essential to ensure that student-athletes are following their training and nutrition plans effectively. The coordinator will also oversee the CHAMPS Life Skills program, which includes coordinating study hall sessions, tutoring, and other academic support activities to meet the needs of student-athletes. They will manage off-the-field duties assigned to student managers and represent the athletic program at various functions, including on-campus recruiting events. Communication with visiting teams is also a key responsibility, ensuring that facilities are prepared and that any additional needs are met during their visits. Maintaining compliance with university, SEC Conference, and NCAA rules is a critical aspect of this role. The coordinator will keep current player rosters, squad lists, and ticket lists for home and away games to ensure all compliance requirements are met. Overall, this position is vital for the smooth operation of the volleyball program and the success of its student-athletes.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates team travel, including scheduling of practice sites, transportation, meal and hotel arrangements.
  • Orders and exchanges equipment for student athletes and maintains inventory control of equipment.
  • Consults with strength and conditioning and athletic training staff to ensure that student athletes adhere to training and nutrition regimens.
  • Works closely with the department's CHAMPS Life Skills program (Rebel Ready) and assists with coordination of study hall, tutoring and other activities to ensure that academic needs are met.
  • Oversees and assigns off-the-field duties for student managers.
  • Assists with on-campus recruiting and represents the athletic program at functions as necessary.
  • Communicates with visiting teams to ensure facilities are available and assist with other needs as they arise.
  • Maintains a current player roster, squad list, and player/parent ticket list at home and away games to meet compliance requirements.
  • Works closely with the department's compliance office to ensure all assigned tasks are in compliance with University, SEC Conference, and NCAA rules.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • One (1) year of experience related to the above described duties.
