About the position

The Pharmacy Benefits Coordinator plays a crucial role in the Pharmacy Care Management department by organizing, improving, and implementing pharmacy benefit management policies and procedures. This position involves oversight of claims processing, development of new benefit designs, management of vendor relationships, and serving as a resource for complex benefit issues. The coordinator works under the direction of the Manager of Pharmacy Benefits and collaborates with various stakeholders to enhance departmental processes.

Responsibilities

  • Designs and implements changes in existing and new pharmacy benefit structures.
  • Coordinates and improves departmental processes and procedures in conjunction with the pharmacy manager.
  • Documents and maintains departmental policies, procedures, manuals, and databases.
  • Represents the department at internal and external meetings.
  • Trains employees on pharmacy benefit procedures and policies.
  • Coordinates relationships with vendors and customers such as MedImpact and Medea.
  • Serves as an internal resource for complex benefit issues and cases.
  • Coordinates contract management with vendors including pharmacies and drug companies.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma required.
  • Associate Degree or higher preferred.
  • One year of pharmacy benefit management experience or equivalent required.
  • Two years of pharmacy technician experience or equivalent required.
